I am glad that you have come to this page.  The ideas in Jack Boland’s “Super Powers of the Mind” are LIFE principles that can be applied to all of us.  I want to suggest that if you are reading “Adventure at the Edge of Creation” to a young person or exploring my book “Adventure of a Lifetime” and its tales of designing reality, that you take this course along with your reading as it will help you better integrate many of the concepts into your own life adventure.  One Love, JB

Jack Boland’s course “Super Powers of the Mind” focuses on harnessing spiritual principles and metaphysical teachings to unlock an individual’s potential. The course is deeply influenced by his understanding of the Twelve Powers, a framework originally presented by Charles Fillmore, co-founder of Unity. Boland’s teachings emphasize that by tapping into these innate powers, one can experience spiritual growth, heal emotionally, and achieve personal success.

Charles Fillmore, the co-founder of the Unity movement, developed the concept of the “12 Powers of the Mind” as part of his spiritual teachings. These 12 powers represent faculties or abilities inherent in every individual, which when fully realized and expressed, enable a person to live a life aligned with divine potential. The 12 powers are rooted in metaphysical interpretations of spiritual growth, with the idea that through cultivating these powers, one can experience greater spiritual awakening and mastery.

For more on his work, you can explore his extensive lectures and books, which continue to inspire many in Unity churches and beyond(Unity)(Truth Unity).

Application in Daily Life:

Fillmore believed that each of these powers corresponds to specific parts of the body and areas of consciousness. By consciously developing and using these faculties, a person can enhance their spiritual evolution and express more of their divine nature in practical ways.

For Fillmore, the ultimate goal was to use these 12 powers to become a master of one’s own reality, living in harmony with divine principles and fully expressing one’s potential as a child of God. His teachings on the 12 powers remain a core part of Unity Church’s spiritual philosophy today.

Would you like to explore how these powers could be integrated into your own writing or projects?

1. Faith (Peter):

In your stories, faith could be a key lesson that Alex, Lily, Birdie, and Willow learn. Faith empowers them to trust in their abilities to create their reality, even when the outcomes seem uncertain. For example, when they face a challenging situation in the Magic Forest, their belief in the unseen forces guiding them could serve as a metaphor for trusting in life’s flow.

  • Integration: In Linda Granville’s memoir Dark Holy Ground, faith could be a recurring theme. The resilience and strength of marginalized people you describe could illustrate how faith in themselves or in a higher power enables them to transcend obstacles.

2. Strength (Andrew):

Strength can be depicted as inner resilience in your characters. For example, Gabriel and Marcus might teach the children about the importance of mental and emotional strength—standing firm in their beliefs and remaining grounded, no matter what challenges arise in the forest.

  • Integration: In Adventure of a Lifetime, strength can be represented by the courage to continue the journey of self-discovery. Your own life story and projects could emphasize how this power leads to perseverance in making the world a more compassionate place.

3. Wisdom (James, son of Zebedee):

Your stories often touch on deep spiritual wisdom, and you could highlight this power by having characters like Ollie the owl and the other wise beings offer insights that help guide the young adventurers. Wisdom in The Magic Forest could be seen in how the children discern between illusion and reality, a theme that aligns with the metaphysical teachings you are promoting.

4. Love (John):

Love is a central theme that can be woven into every interaction in the Magic Forest. Characters like Rosie the rabbit could embody unconditional love, teaching the adventurers that love is the binding force that harmonizes all relationships and realities.

  • Integration: The PositiVibes Network’s mission of unity, compassion, and peace is directly aligned with the power of love. Your work can emphasize how love is essential in transforming the world into a more peaceful and connected planetary family.

5. Power (Philip):

In The Magic Forest, power could be explored through how the children learn to use their thoughts and words to shape reality. They could discover that their thoughts have power—an essential lesson in the Law of Attraction.

  • Integration: The story of Adventure of a Lifetime and your work on self-realization could emphasize the power that each individual has to create their future through conscious thought and action.

6. Imagination (Bartholomew):

Imagination already plays a big role in our stories. The Magic Forest itself is a world of imagination where anything is possible. You could enhance this by showing how the characters consciously use their imagination to create positive outcomes.

  • Integration: In Advenure at The Edge od Creation, teaching young readers the power of imagination could be a central theme, helping them understand that their creative abilities are their greatest asset.

7. Understanding (Thomas):

Understanding could manifest when “Magic Forest” characters like Gabriel and Donald Shimoda offer profound insights that help the children grasp deeper truths about the universe. It could be the moment when they finally “get” that their external world is a reflection of their internal state.

  • Integration: Our articles here and Linda Granville’s memoir can explore how understanding spiritual laws like the Law of Attraction or the interconnectedness of life leads to greater fulfillment and harmony.

8. Will (Matthew):

The willpower to take aligned action can be a lesson in your stories. The children could face situations where they must make deliberate choices, learning that the power of their will determines the course of their adventure.

  • Integration: In Dark Holy Ground, the concept of will could represent the collective drive of communities to overcome social exclusion and poverty through intentional action and resilience.

9. Order (James, son of Alphaeus):

Divine order can be symbolized in how the journey of Willow and Birdie unfolds. You could highlight how everything happens in its right time and place, with the characters learning to trust in the natural flow of events.

  • Integration: In your articles or memoir, the theme of divine order could surface in reflections on how life unfolds according to a higher plan, despite apparent chaos or setbacks.

10. Zeal (Simon the Zealot):

Zeal is enthusiasm and passion, and in The Magic Forest, this could be shown through the characters’ excitement for each new adventure. They may learn that their energy and passion drive their experiences.

  • Integration: For The PositiVibes Network, zeal could be about inspiring others with passion for positive transformation. In your writing, zeal could be the enthusiasm to bring new ideas and creative projects to life.

11. Renunciation (Thaddeus):

Renunciation is about letting go of limiting beliefs or past conditioning. You could show characters like Birdie or Willow learning to release fears or doubts that hold them back from their true potential.

  • Integration: In Adventure of a Lifetime and your own story, renunciation could reflect the release of societal expectations, allowing for the freedom to pursue an intentional and spiritually fulfilling life.

12. Life (Judas):

The power of life could be expressed in the vitality of the Magic Forest itself, or in moments where the characters experience renewal and rejuvenation. This power connects to the idea that life is an ever-renewing force.

  • Integration: In your projects, this could relate to the idea of eternal growth, where life is continuously evolving, and we are all part of that dynamic process.

Here’s a summary of each of the 12 powers:

  1. Faith (represented by Peter) – The ability to perceive the spiritual, to believe in possibilities, and to have inner certainty. Faith enables you to look beyond appearances and trust in the unseen.
  2. Strength (represented by Andrew) – The capacity to endure, stay steady, and be strong in the face of challenges. It’s about both physical and inner fortitude.
  3. Wisdom (represented by James, son of Zebedee) – Also called “judgment” or “discernment,” this power enables you to make decisions that are aligned with higher truth and inner guidance.
  4. Love (represented by John) – The unconditional love that binds and unites all of life. Love fosters compassion, empathy, and harmonizes relationships.
  5. Power (represented by Philip) – The faculty of mastery and dominion. Power is the ability to transform and direct one’s energy toward creative and purposeful action.
  6. Imagination (represented by Bartholomew) – The creative ability to visualize and form mental images. Imagination is key to manifesting ideas into reality.
  7. Understanding (represented by Thomas) – The ability to comprehend and grasp the deeper meanings of life. It’s about spiritual insight and intellectual clarity.
  8. Will (represented by Matthew) – The ability to choose, decide, and direct one’s actions. Willpower is about aligning personal intentions with divine will.
  9. Order (represented by James, son of Alphaeus) – The ability to organize, sequence, and balance one’s life. Divine order is about timing and the natural progression of growth.
  10. Zeal (represented by Simon the Zealot) – Enthusiasm, passion, and motivation. Zeal propels you forward with energy and determination.
  11. Renunciation (represented by Thaddeus) – Also referred to as “elimination,” it is the ability to release or let go of anything that no longer serves your highest good, whether physical or mental.
  12. Life (represented by Judas) – The faculty of vitality, health, and the animation of all the faculties. Life is the power of regeneration and dynamic expression of existence.

Summary:

These 12 powers can become guiding principles for both your creative stories and the broader mission of your work. They provide a metaphysical framework that aligns with your vision for unity, empowerment, and intentional living. By consciously integrating these powers into your storytelling, you create an enriching experience that teaches readers—both children and adults—the value of harnessing their inner spiritual faculties.
